Boyolangu or Gayatri, Sanggrahan or Cungkup, Gua Selomengglen.
It is a buddhistic sanctuary which is in the village of Boyolangu in the south of Tulungagung.
One can see the
reconstituted bases of two brick temples, like some statues
including one large Prajnaparamita without
head.
One sees also the large
blocks in which the pillars of the roof were planted which
sheltered the statues as well as the excessively pious people
coming to incline itself in front of the divinities. The whole of
the roofs were out of wood.
The site is located in the village of Sanggrahan, to 15 km in the south of Tulungagung, on the road of Pantai Popoh.
There we have the
beautiful remainders of a stone temple, posed on an immense 2
meters in height terrace, out of bricks.
All around the base of the temple, one can see small engraved panels of animals scenes.
The roof broke down inside
the structure, blocking the cella.
Also located in the
village of Sanggrahan, it is a cave, or rather a hole dug in an
enormous rock.
On the panel of the bottom
and on both sides, one can see very beautiful scenes illustrating
Arjunawihara (the marriage of Arjuna).
It should be noted that one finds the same
scenes, presented differently, in the other Gua Selomengglen, the one of Kediri.
Oddly, the majority of the inhabitants of Tulungagung know the existence of
the cave of Kediri, but not that which is on their premises.
